Home Insurance Details
A home is likely one of the largest investments anyone will make in their lifetime and should be protected. Home buyers purchase homeowners insurance to shield them from loss due to many different covered perils. There are four essential parts of a policy.
Dwelling - covers the structure of the house to repair or rebuild your home if it is damaged or destroyed by fire, tornado, lightening, or other disasters listed in your policy. It will NOT pay for the damage caused by flood, earthquake or routine wear and tear. When purchasing coverage for the structure of your home it is important you buy enough to rebuild your home.
Other Structures - covers the structures that are separated from the home.
Personal Property - this is your personal belongings, the contents of your home. The limit of coverage is determined on the value of your dwelling. There are limitations on items such as cash, jewelry, silver, and guns if lost due to theft. Business property is also limited on the personal homeowners policy.
Liability - the liability portion of your policy will protect the named insured against lawsuits/claims for injuries they cause to other people. It also pays for damage done by your pets. Liability will pay for defending the policyholder in court and court awards.
Other coverage's - Extra overages such as jewelry, guns, boats, 4 wheelers, snowmobiles, water and sewer back up, identity theft and many others can all be added on to your homeowner policy by request. Please discuss any extra you may want with your agent.
